Summary[]

Chizu supports Ryu

Additional Color Page: Chizuru cheers for Ryu

Chizuru decides to cheer for Ryu and begins shouting “Do your best!” People tell her that she's annoying him and that she needs to go back to her seat, but Chizuru refuses and tells them to shut up. Ryu hits the ball, which allows two of his teammates to reach home base and tie the game.

The inning ends, but the other Kitahoro students are hopeful that their team can win. Chizuru comes back after being told to go back to her seat again. She tells Sawako and Ayane that she feels good. Chizuru thinks about how scared she was that Ryu would disappear after being with him for so long. She acknowledges that her dream has changed, but recognizes that Ryu's dream is the same as before: he wants to play as much baseball as he can.

Suddenly, a runner from the opposing team manages to reach third base. Chizuru shouts for god, which surprises Ayane who comments that Chizuru doesn't believe in god. Chizuru prays out loud, describing Ryu's good traits to god:

"Ryu is a serious and nice guy... straightforward and dedicated. He's only ever wanted one thing. He won't ask for more than that. He has overcome so many challenges. He doesn't blame anyone else. He just gets quiet... and bears it."

Chizuru tells god that she will do anything, like study math every day, as long as god can help Ryu play as much baseball as he wants. Sawako holds Chizuru's hands and silently joins her in prayer, but the opposing team scores another point. Kitahoro High School's team has lost. The team bows, but Ryu soon looks up at the stands and sees Chizuru's crying face.

On the way back home from the game, Ayane tries to comfort Chizuru about the team's loss. Ayane says that god is probably too busy to take care of everyone. Chizuru then raises her head and says she was wrong. Chizuru goes on to say that she lost her mind and started talking about god, when the one who has been watching over Ryu is Chizuru herself.

Later that evening, Chizuru finds Ryu sitting by the water and asks if he needs company. Ryu answers with a "sure." Chizuru kneels down and holds him. A tear runs down Ryu's cheek as he tells Chizuru that it's over and he's done. Chizuru pulls away and tells him it's not over because he will keep playing in college. She tells him that she'll wait for him, and that if anything happens that he can come back and she'll cheer him up just as he always cheered her up. Ryu asks what if something happens to her. Chizuru says she can take care of herself but Ryu then interrupts her with a kiss. Ryu promises Chizuru that he’ll come back for her, and when he does that they'll become a family. He suggests that they could manage the ramen shop together. With tears of relief, Chizuru agrees and they kiss again. She then says she'll have enough children to form a baseball team. Ryu at first agrees, but after Chizuru tells him to make sure to learn his father's ramen techniques or else the shop will go bankrupt, he gives it a second thought and says they don't need to have that many kids. Chizuru insists that they do.

Back in her room, Sawako reflects on how Chizuru said that she couldn't do it but ended up showing Ryu a lot of support anyway. Sawako then remembers Kazehaya's words of support and how he told her that she'll be fine in a new place. She realizes that she has to stop running away and face herself in order to be able to face Kazehaya. Sawako opens the college entrance exams book and starts studying.
